This is an early hand painted iron dial and comes from an 18th century longcase/grandfather clock. Circa 1800 to 1825. Dating source: Painted Clocks 1770-1870 by Brian Loomes. Published 1994.
This is a really beautiful piece, and it is large. Overall, the condition is very good. Most of the colours are still vibrant. There is a little fading to some black. The moon-phase disc is in great condition and can be rotated to present one of four images. There is overall crazing. The hands are in good condition.
