This is a really rare and special piece because it is so old and features the earliest RFT (Rundfunk- und Fernmelde-Technik) logo. It was made in the early 1950s in Leipzig, East Germany. It is dated on the reverse; 13/07/53.
The steel case is in remarkably good condition for its age. There is a minor amount of edge wear in places. The dial is in really nice bright condition and has aged to a nice even ivory colour. You can see some light ghosting where the clock has been left for years at five past five. The early curved profile hands are undamaged, but show a little wear. The original convex glass shows very minor wear commensurate with its age.
Overall dia 37cm, depth 7cm.
Fitted with a high quality battery quartz mechanism that is fully guaranteed for twelve months. Requires one AA battery which is supplied with the clock.
