A nice clean example of a really early factory clock made in Leipzig, East Germany by RFT (Rundfunk- und Fernmelde-Technik), this clock is dated (very faintly) on the reverse; 19 Jan 1958.
The steel case has the usual mid-grey paint finish typical of that period. There is modest wear, but no damage. The dial has aged to a lovely warm ivory colour and is in splendid condition considering its age. There is even crazing and a little corrosion. The less-common curved profile hands, which also have the less-common textured finish show minor pitting and wear.
Overall diameter 37cm, depth 7.5cm.
Fitted with a high quality battery quartz mechanism that is fully guaranteed for twelve months. Requires one AA battery which is supplied with the clock.
